Making decisions and choices
is something we're not always aware of. Some decisions like
"getting out of bed" in the morning, just seem to take
place. We know we have to get "up sooner or later," so
what's the big deal? Well, the mind set with which you lay
your first foot on the floor in the morning, can make all
the difference in the world in how life looks to you that
particular day & which part of your mind you choose to
listen to.
If you're anything like me,
there is an initial resistance to "popping out of bed" in
the morning, and getting immediately involved in required
activities - hygiene, dressing, appointments, taking out the
garbage, etc. I prefer not wake up with an "alarm
clock," and 'hit the floor running.' Most mornings, I lay
there on my sleeping bag, and go through a few meridian
therapy flows to awaken the subtle currents of life energy
pulsating through my body-mind. Holding these
balancing Safety Energy Locks (SEL's) as they are referred
to in Jin Shin Jyutsu, recharges my system slowly but
surely, and I find this a much pleasanter re-entry into the
world of conscious mind activity, and getting things done.
Holding some of these 26
points on either side of my body, reminds me of the
Course in Miracles text reading: I Need Do Nothing!
I'm just lying there in my prone nighttime position,
seemingly "doing nothing," but on an inner mental /
spiritual level, I am gradually coming alive to my true
purpose that day! You might try this way of arising some
time, and see how it works for you. Some of the Safety
Energy Locks that I often use in pairs are: the #15's,
#14's, and #13's. Since, I am a yoga teacher, I'm quite
comfortable lying flat on my back in "relaxation pose" or
savasana which is the Sanskrit word for this position. What
I first do is place my palms along either side of my navel
just above my pelvic ridge (#15's), and Just Breathe
- as the new Anna Nalick song says. After holding
these positions for a few minutes, I next bring my palms up
to either side of my abdomen just below my rib cage.
These are the #14's. After resting with my breath, and
energy pulsations, I move my fingertips up to my third ribs
just below my collar bones; crossing my wrists as I do so.
These are #13's in the Jin Shin system. After pausing
here for another few minutes, I'm often ready to "get up and
go!" If not, I may perform the Main Central Vertical Energy
Flow.
NOTE: KEEP IN MIND, I'M NOT
A JIN SHIN JYUTSU PRACTITIONER, AND ONLY HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT
A 100 SESSIONS IN THE PAST 5 YEARS, BUT FROM STUDYING IT'S
MATERIALS AND ATTENDING ONE SEMINAR, I LOVE IT. PLEASE GO TO
THEIR WEBSITE FOR DETAILS AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES.
One other way to arise with
more intention, and Choose Again, to live and see life
differently than you did in the past, is to use this
powerful practice that was delivered to me last December by
a Child of God named Mary. I was sitting at the time in a
Hastings store in Conway, Arkansas, and Mary came to perch
herself at the table where I was sitting. Her book title
captured my attention since part of it said: Spiritual
Warfare,in the title. After listening to Mary tell me
her spiritual story I was nearly bowled over. Mary said that
some 10 years ago, she had a stroke, & was unconscious
for 2 weeks. During that time she felt she spoke to and
walked with Jesus, and learned about how much she is loved.
When she came to, she had to
re-learn most of her motor functions, and after 2 years of
physical therapy, she was herself again, but not really. She
was a new person. I asked Mary: "what did all this teach
you, how is your life different?"
Mary replied" Every day
now, before I even open my eyes in the morning, I ask God
for help in making my decisions that day -- for Him to
lovingly guide me. Then during the day, I make a conscious
effort to reach out and extend love to whomever / wherever I
go."
I for one, have practiced the
first part of this commitment diligently since Mary told me
her story: I keep my eyes closed till I ask my Creator or
His Holy Spirit, to be with me throughout the day as my
Guide in all my life choices.
I'm sure that this
is not only helping me be more loving throughout that day,
but also be more willing to "say hello to each and every
future morning with a little bit more happiness and a lot
less resistance to greet the new day."
CHOOSE
ONCE AGAIN -- MAYBE RIGHT NOW!
Another "chose
again" story from Yours Truly
As I drove up to Mountain
Home this find misty day, I recalled a statement I'd made
last night to my Course buddy and roommate, Blaise. I had
popped off to him: "I really don't like that long
drive to Mountain Home every two weeks!"
Well, what I found out as
I meandered in my car down State Road 27 to a teensey town
named Harriett, is that what I really don't like is: "the
state of mind I get in when I'm rushing somewhere to get
there on time, and haven't allowed enough spare time for
that to happen."
In this moment, I had an
awakening, and was "choosing to see my drive to Mountain
Home differently!" I was also blessed
with forgiving my past erroneous perceptions, and withdraw
some if not all of the blame involved in my past
rushed trips. Amazingly, just after this realization, I was
able to miss hitting a squirrel and chipmunk that had
scurried out innocently onto the road. I shared this "shift
of perception" with my roommate, and help correct the
"victim perception" of myself that I had projected into his
mind the night before.
I hope you enjoy this second
"Choose Again" entry, and that if you are really interested,
you'll practice some 'choose again shifts of perception'
yourself. If you're really fired up about taking full
responsibility for your actions and states of mind, you
might want to sign up for the
VICTIM NO MORE
seminar offered by Gil
Beltran of Miami, Florida.
It'll happen somewhere in Arkansas this year when there are
enough 'students of Truth' ready to get out of
blame-oriented and victim/victimizer lifestyles. Peace
to your mind, let all your thoughts be still, if
only for just a moment!
PLEASE SHARE YOUR "Chose Again
Stories" ANYTIME YOU WISH...
By seeing our choices differently, and
forgiving the past, we'll have brighter & brighter days -
more and more of the time..and isn't this what time is for?
Hum this little Donovan song with me some today if you
like:
Happiness runs in a circular motion.
Life is like a little boat upon the
sea.
Everybody is a part of everything
anyway.
You can have it all as you let
yourself be!
